Opening Scripture
“Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.”
— Psalm 119:105 (KJV)
Heavenly Father, thank You for allowing me to begin this journey through Your Word. Give me wisdom to understand, an open heart to receive, and courage to apply what I learn. Guide my steps, strengthen my faith, and help me grow closer to You. Amen.
Every journey of faith begins somewhere. You do not need to have all the answers or know everything about the Bible. You simply need a willingness to learn, ask questions, and grow.
In this first lesson, we will explore what the Bible is, why Scripture matters, and how you can begin developing a personal relationship with God through His Word.
In This Lesson You Will Discover
What the Bible is and why it matters
How Scripture can guide everyday life
How to begin reading the Bible
How prayer and Scripture work together
Questions for personal reflection
REFLECTION QUESTIONS
What brought you to Bible study at this point in your life?
What would you like to understand better about God or Scripture?
Which Scripture from this lesson stood out to you most?
What is one thing you want to carry with you from this lesson?
THIS WEEK’S PRACTICE
Choose 10 quiet minutes on at least three days this week.
Read a short passage of Scripture and practice:
READ → REFLECT → RESPOND → PRAY
Don’t worry about how much you read. Focus on understanding and applying what you learn.
CLOSING PRAYER
Welcome to Your First Study
Read: Psalm 119:105, James 1:5, and 2 Timothy 3:16–17
As you read, take your time. Notice any words or ideas that stand out to you. You do not have to understand everything at once. Bible study is a journey of learning, reflection, and spiritual growth.
STUDY — A SIMPLE WAY TO BEGIN
1. READ
Read the passage slowly. If something catches your attention, read it again.
2. REFLECT
Ask yourself: What is this Scripture saying? What does it teach me about God, faith, or the way I live?
3. RESPOND
Think about one thing you can apply to your life today.
4. PRAY
Talk to God about what you have read. Ask for wisdom, understanding, and guidance.
LESSON 1 COMPLETE
Take this with you:
You don’t have to understand the entire Bible today. Begin with one passage, one prayer, and one faithful step at a time.
