LESSON 4: FAITH & TRUSTING GOD
Learning to Trust God Faith does not mean that we will always know what happens next. Sometimes faith means continuing forward when the path is uncertain.
Trusting God involves believing in His wisdom, seeking His direction, and remaining faithful even when circumstances do not immediately make sense.
Faith grows as we learn to bring our fears, questions, plans, and hopes before God.
Opening Scripture
“Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.”
— Proverbs 3:5 (KJV)
In This Lesson You Will Discover
What biblical faith means
How to trust God during uncertainty
The difference between faith and fear
How challenges can strengthen faith
Practical ways to depend on God each day
Read Proverbs 3:5–6, Hebrews 11:1–6, and Psalm 37:3–5.
As you read, pay attention to the words faith, trust, acknowledge, commit, and believe.
Ask yourself what these passages reveal about depending upon God.
STUDY
Trust beyond what you can see.
Faith allows us to move forward even when we cannot see the entire path ahead.
Seek God’s direction.
Before making important decisions, make room for prayer, Scripture, reflection, and wisdom.
Remember God’s faithfulness.
Looking back at times when you received strength, guidance, or provision can encourage you during present difficulties.
Do what you can—and trust God with what you cannot control.
Faith is not inactivity. We can make wise choices while trusting God with the outcome.
REFLECT
What area of your life is hardest for you to surrender to God?
What does trusting God look like in that situation?
Has a difficult experience ever strengthened your faith?
What is one step of faith you can take this week?
FAITH EXERCISE
Write down one concern you have been carrying.
Underneath it, write:
“I will do what I can faithfully, and I will trust God with what I cannot control.”
Keep this statement somewhere you can return to during the week.
“I will do what I can faithfully, and I will trust God with what I cannot control.”
Keep this statement somewhere you can return to during the week.
PRAYER
Heavenly Father, strengthen my faith when I cannot see what lies ahead. Give me wisdom for the decisions I can make and peace about the things beyond my control. Teach me to trust Your direction, remain faithful through uncertainty, and walk forward with courage. Amen.
